Joe LaRue looks at the same scene from the pilot with two different actresses. And I’ve got to say, having seen three episodes, it was the right call to recast and reshoot. No slight to the original actress, but Rutina Wesley’s slinky and self-loathing performance has evolved into something unique.
That said, this isn’t the strongest scene. It only makes sense if you believe Tara was already planning to quit and was just looking for an excuse — and the text doesn’t really back that up. So instead, it feels like a Hey Let’s Meet a Major Character scene. You could cut it and not change the plot at all.
